Classification Case report
  • ABSTRACT
  • TITLE
Maxillary transverse deficiency in adult patients can be treated with dental compensation , surgical assisted rapid palatal expansion (SARPE) or orthognathic surgery depending on the nature of the problems and the skeletal maturity of the patients. Recently, maxillary expansion combined with skeletal anchored devices was introduced in various methods in order to expand the scope of the orthodontic treatment. Furthermore, Maxillary skeletal expansion combined with Lefort I one piece could provide more stability compared to the SARPE or Lefort I three piece. However, more long-term cohort studies are needed to further clarify the effects on maxillary changes
A 22-year-old adult female who had been diagnosed as Skeletal Class III with mandibular prognathism, facial asymmetry and maxillary transverse deficiency. The objective of this case report was to present the treatment progress of skeletal anchored maxillary expansion.
